| How long have you been photographing weddings? I’m proud to be in my 6th year but I have been involved with weddings my whole life. My family operates a top tier floral and event company in NC. What words describe your style? Modern elegance, classically refined. Can you describe how you work and where you find inspiration? I am very easy going and love to work with people. My style is a blend of documentary, fashion, and fine art or often called editorial. Sometimes I am a fly on the wall and other times I am in the middle of the action. I am there to tell your story and it is my job to make you look good, so if I need to step in and direct I will. I love photography and shoot quite a varied amount of subjects but my primary specialty is people and weddings. I find inspiration in many places but the best source comes from the process of collaboration. There is nothing better than enthusiastic clients who are not afraid to take a risk and do something special. I LOVE my job and its great if you can bring that same energy to the process. Do you shoot digital or film? Both. I use a combination depending on the situation and the look I want to achieve. It is a creative choice and I use all top quality equipment. If we hire you will you be scheduling other events on the same day? Absolutely no! You will have 110% of my attention. There is no way to do this job well if you are not focused. Do you do your own printing? I do all retouching for prints and albums and then a professional lab handles my printing. They are better suited for it. What does hi-res file mean? All of my complete coverage options include the hi-resolution jpeg files delivered to you on DVD media. This means that you own your images and may print them to you hearts desire. Just be sure you use a good lab! The disc that you will be given matches exactly your proof site (and proof book if ordered). These files are print ready and will make great prints. But for REALLY GREAT prints you need the custom printing service. So what is the difference in those and Custom Prints? The files on your disc are what I call the primary edit. They are processed and toned for proofing so that you can see all of your images. It would be impossible to go thru every file and make a custom image from it. The files for Custom Prints are put through several stages of toning, retouching, and creative adjustments to build a master file that will make a master print. Your album images will receive this custom treatment. What about those albums? How do we pick our photos? This is a very subjective thing. Think of your album as a story book. It tells the story of your wedding, its a document of your family history. I always suggest picking your absolute must have photos and then we can look at those together and talk about what else should be included. My designers are very talented and will work with us to create a unique design that reflects your style. Why Cypress Albums? Can we use another company’s product? In my opinion Cypress Albums makes the finest presentation. There are a lot of different books out there but I have not found one that I feel reflects my taste as well as the Iris Book. I am always open to looking at new ideas so if you find a great book please share! What about Shutterfly or iPhoto? They make books and prints that are inexpensive. Yes they do, but I guarantee once you have seen a Cypress Albums Book you wont be calling on any of those DIY services. You are hiring a professional to create a special image collection and that quality should carry through the final presentation of your wedding album. The costs are adding up and we are just unsure about spending the extra money for photography. Are you flexible at all? I totally understand your concerns and I will do everything I can to give you a fair price and great service. If I can say anything here it is that you should think of the photography as the one tangible thing you will come away with. After the food, flowers, guests, etc are gone the one thing you have is the photographs. So hire a great photographer who’s style and personality resonates with you! We still have a ton of questions and feel overwhelmed with all the decisions to make. What now? Pick up the phone and call me or shoot me an email. I will do my best to answer all your questions and provide you with the information you need to make a good decision about the photography. I look forward to hearing from you! |
